Humane Handling Guidelines for Horses, Standards for the Care of Unfit Animals

Humane handling of horses is a priority. Responsible animal care decisions must be made particularly with unfit animals. It is in the best interest of the animal as well as the industry. The equine industry in Alberta developed the Humane Handling Guidelines for Horses, Standards for the Care of Unfit animals.

These clearly defined guidelines also state what is humanely acceptable to transport and what is not. These guidelines are endorsed by the Alberta Veterinary Medical Association and the Alberta SPCA.
