Regulations Amending the Health of Animals Regulations

E-mail Print

In Canada, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has the regulatory authority for animal transport. The current federal animal transport regulations were implemented in 1977. They are considered to no longer reflect current industry best practices, available relevant research, international trends, and societal expectations. The CFIA, after many years of review and stakeholder consultations, has pre-published a draft amendment to the animal transport regulations to Canada Gazette Part 1 (CG1) for public comment.

The comment period lasted 75 days, closing on February 15, 2017.
