Caledon Equine Hospital presents an Equine Rescue Certication Program

caledonlogoThe Caledon Equine Hospital is pleased to present an equine Rescue Certification program Friday September 17, 2010 as part of the Hills of Headwaters 'Destination Equitation'.

This eight-hour certification course is designed for first level emergency personnel responders, and will be of particular interest to firefighters, law enforcement, animal control and rescue personnel, as well as to ranch and horse owners. Interested participants are invited to sign up for the certification program by going to the sign-up page on our website.

The certification program is taught by Jennifer Woods, a certified Large Animal Rescue instructor who has been delivering livestock handling courses including Livestock Emergency Response and Livestock Behaviour and Handling. Jennifer has certified Canadian universities for the Canadian Council on Animal Care and developed a livestock behaviour and handling curriculum for colleges. In 2006, Jennifer was presented with an Award of Distinction for Innovation by Alberta Farm Animal Care for her Livestock Emergency Response program.

The Equine Rescue program combines the technical skills of fire and emergency service with an understanding of horse characteristics and behaviour. The techniques reflect innovative adaptations to cope with dramatic and remote terrain.

Those interested in certification are invited to register for the course by September 3, 2010. Certification space is limited to 35 per session, and spaces will fill up quickly!

The Equine Rescue Certification program, which includes a full day of instruction, course handbook, coffee break and certification diploma takes place on Friday September 17, 2010 from 8am - 5pm. Cost for certification is $150 (+ applicable taxes).

For further information, please contact Stephany St. Louis, Caledon Equine Hospital, 905-838-0038 or you can go to www.caledonequine.com.
