Combining the technical skills of fire and emergency services with an understanding of horse characteristics and behaviour

The Large Animal Rescue program combines the technical skills of fire and emergency service with an understanding of horse characteristics and behaviour. The techniques reflect innovative adaptations to cope with dramatic and remote terrain.

This eight-hour certification course is designed for first level emergency personnel responders including firefighters, law enforcement, animal control and rescue personnel, as well as ranchers and horse owners.

This program was developed and is delivered by Jennifer Woods, a certified Large Animal Rescue instructor who has been delivering livestock behaviour and handling courses including the Livestock Emergency Response since 1998. She has certified Canadian universities for the Canadian Council on animal care and developed a livestock behaviour and handling curriculum for colleges.

The program includes a full day of instruction (classroom and hands on), course manual on CD and certification diploma.
