The Horse Welfare Alliance responds to Global National's No Country for Animals
Global National - No country for Animals
Global National's Kevin Newman working with the Canadians for the Ethical Treatment of Food Animals, has created a series entitled Revealed: No country for Animals.
Animal neglect and abuse are against the law. Farmers and ranchers, like all animal owners, must responsibly care for their animals and adhere to many regulations, including the Criminal Code and provincial animal care laws. The animal agriculture industry is supportive and provides consultation on progressive and improved legislation to increase protection for animals from cruelty and abuse. The animal agriculture industry in Canada also supports, develops and promotes research, species specific codes of practice, training programs, assessment tools and audits systems.
We must all work together to improve the welfare of animals in our country.
The Horse Welfare Alliance of Canada and partners would like Global's viewers to know the vast majority of farmers in Canada do their utmost to provide for the well-being of their animals, they also have a story to tell.
ACTION: Watch the series and assist in encouraging CBC to provide balance in the issue of farm animal care in Canada.
